OK folks, just wondering what baddies ye love to throw against yer players. Mine are:
Low level:
Gnolls - tough, intimidating, enough badness to make pc's think twice about going overland
Gelatinous Cube - who doesn't love the cube?
Undead - I'm infamous for using the life-impaired...
Mid level:
Undead - see above
Molds, oozes, fungi - more fun than a barrel of monkeys (yes, even winged monkeys)
Evil priests - my guys (rightly) fear these more than wizards...
High level:
Big bashers: giants, ettins, trolls - hit 'em hard and make 'em work for those xp
Mind Flayers: when the double-digit level pc's wet their pants at the mention of a monster, it's ok in my books!
Undead - evil, intelligent undead can really, really ruin an adventurer's day... |

Gnolls are my buddies love throwing them in the mix.
low levels nothing beats a kobold.
Now mind you I just started dming with a couple friends and cousins, so I am wet behind the ears.

Love using drow
Owlbears Yah!
I like monsters period.
Love fiends they are cool
Use some undead but not a huge fan. |
